Leagram Organic Dairy was created in 2000 by Bob Kitching, a cheesemaker for over 40 years, he created his dream of owning his own dairy and allowing the general public to see how traditional cheese is made.
Now run by his wife Christine and daughter, Faye, they strive to continue his legacy. The team at Leagram now create over 28 different varieties of cheese using the very same recipes and methods Bob taught them. All the cheeses are made by hand and using local sheep milk, organic cow’s milk or Cumbrian goat milk from Piper Hole goat farm; all hand dipped in wax to seal in the flavour.
Not only can you see how cheese is made today, through our specially designed windows. You will walk through cheese making and dairy past as you enter, all collected over many years by Bob, seeing pieces from a bygone era of how dairy products used to be made and how the craft has matured through the ages.
Come and give your taste buds a treat and let us take you on a dairy journey with The Cheese Experience.
